Days of Daisies
20”x16” I Mixed Media on Canvas
Acrylic Paint, Oil Pastel, Spray Paint, Gold Leaf
Days of Daisies captures the simple beauty and quiet elegance of white daisies, a flower that symbolizes innocence and hope. Painted on a textured background created with modeling paste and acrylic paint, each petal and stem seems to grow from the canvas itself, offering a tactile invitation to explore.
I used a mixed-media approach-acrylic paint, oil pastel, and spray paint-to create depth and contrast, and finished with touches of gold leaf to add a subtle shimmer that catches the light. The gallery-wrapped canvas is painted black around the edges, giving the work a classic, timeless feel even without a frame. This choice adds a sense of formality to the piece while allowing the soft whites and gold accents to shine. The daisy is often seen as a simple flower, but in this piece, I wanted to elevate it, to celebrate its resilience and quiet grace. My hope is that viewers will find a sense of peace in its simplicity and perhaps see reflections of their own strength and beauty in its delicate form.
